UCLA faculty help develop list of ethical principles for intracranial research

UCLA ethicists and neuroscientists recently collaborated with other researchers across the country to create a list of principles for ethical invasive brain research. Intracranial research uses invasive techniques inside the skull in order to answer fundamental questions about the brain and help provide treatments to patients with brain disorders that are untreatable with traditional methods, experts said. Students convey inconvenience caused by lengthy, repetitive symptom survey

Students said the new Daily Symptom Monitoring Survey is helpful for COVID-19 safety but should be shortened for more convenience and to increase compliance. UCLA created the Daily Symptom Monitoring Survey in June 2020 to improve campus safety by asking students, faculty and staff whether or not they are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19. Read more...

UC unions meet to discuss climate change, plans to go greener

Unions across the University of California met Tuesday to discuss their goals and how they can incorporate climate change and greener initiatives in their union. Representatives from the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 3299, the California Nurses Association, United Auto Workers Local 5810, Student Researchers United – UAW, University Council – American Federation of Teachers, University Professional and Technical Employees, and UC Green New Deal Coalition held a virtual cross-union panel to discuss their respective goals as unions, what they are currently doing and what they hope to achieve in the future.
